Service members from Combined Joint Task Force - Horn of Africa, 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit and USS Tarawa provided medical and dental care for villagers of Goubetto, Djibouti, during a Medical Civil Action Project. Navy Capt. Michael Curran, a medical officer at Camp Lemonier?s medical clinic, is deployed from Bethesda Naval Medical Center, Md., examines and treats local villagers for minor and acute illnesses. Military doctors and medics work with local Djiboutian healthcare officials to provide basic medical and dental care. The two-day MEDCAP treated more then 560 patients. The MEDCAP is scheduled for a total of six days, servicing a total of three villages. The military team spends two days in each village before moving onto the next one.
