Rear Adm. Tom Moninger, Navy director of plans, policy, and integration, presents artifacts from the U.S. Navy Great White Fleet provided by Naval History and Heritage Command during an unveiling ceremony at the Pentagon, Feb. 22, 2024. The Great White Fleet was the name given to U.S. Navy ships that journeyed around the world from 1907-1909, at the direction of President Teddy Roosevelt. The fleet's primary mission was to display U.S. naval power to the world, build friendships, and deter would-be adversaries. The artifacts represent the legacy of the U.S. Navy’s global influence.
