Rear Adm. Tom Moninger, Navy director of plans, policy, and integration, left, and Capt. Tom Ogden, unveil a photograph of the U.S. Navy Great White Fleet provided by Naval History and Heritage Command during a ceremony at the Pentagon, Feb. 22, 2024. The Great White Fleet was the name given to U.S. Navy ships that journeyed around the world from 1907-1909, at the direction of President Teddy Roosevelt. The fleet's primary mission was to display U.S. naval power to the world, build friendships, and deter would-be adversaries. The artifacts represent the legacy of the U.S. Navy’s global influence.
