U.S. Marine Corps Staff Sgt. Joshua Kirkendall, an aerial observer with Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron (HMH) 462, Marine Aircraft Group 16, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, helps passengers with their seat belts aboard a CH-53E Super Stallion helicopter on the flight deck of the USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72), Feb. 13, 2024. HMH-462 transported passengers from Naval Air Station North Island, Coronado, to the Abraham Lincoln, a Nimitz-class aircraft carrier, and provided assault support for routine operations in the Third Fleet area of operations. Landing on an aircraft carrier was a rare opportunity for the Marines of HMH-462, as CH-53E Super Stallions deploy at sea aboard amphibious assault ships. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Cpl.
