Commander, Littoral Combat Ship Squadron 1

Lt. Grégoire of French Navy Floréal-class frigate FS Prairial (F-731), left, visits U.S. Navy Independence-variant littoral combat ship USS Savannah (LCS 28) and exchanges gifts with Cmdr. Patrick Kiefer, commanding officer, during a passing exercise, Feb. 26, 2024. The purpose of the event was to strengthen U.S. partnership and interoperability with the French Navy. FS Prairial, based in French Polynesia, contributes to protecting French territories and interests in the Indo-Pacific under the authority of the French joint regional commander, ALPACI, and regularly cooperates with allies and partners across the region. Savannah is a fast, optimally-manned, mission-tailored surface combatant that operates in near-shore and open-ocean environments, winning against 21st-century coastal threats. Savannah is currently underway conducting routine operations in the U.S. 3rd Fleet area of operations. (U.S. Navy photo by Ensign Aristotle J. Toyco)
