More than 200 people took a pause from operations on April 4 to attend the remembrance ceremony for Sgt. 1st Class Paul R. Smith, a platoon sergeant with Company B, 11th Engineer Battalion, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, who gave his life in defense of others. The remembrance ceremony took place in the courtyard where Smith died five years ago. Smith is the 51st dog face Soldier to receive the highest award for bravery, the Medal of Honor.
