The Combat Center’s Ambassador tortoises, Thelma and Louise, share a tomato while feeding. The Combat Center adopted and named Thelma and Louise in 2006, when they were eight years old. Thelma and Louise are sisters and have educated many Marines, including Commanding Officers, and Assistant Secretaries of the Navy, Boy Scout and Girl Scout Troops, and countless civilians, on and off-installation. Thelma & Louise reside with the Commanding General of the Combat Center. Two desert tortoises, or Gopherus agassizii, eat fruit at Marine Corps Air-Ground Combat Center, Twentynine Palms, California.
