    An emergency physician treats a patient during a simulated mass casualty event for Navy Medicine's first integrated implementation of En-route Care System (ERCS) and Emergency Resuscitative Surgical System (ERSS) courses. ERCS and ERSS are components of the Navy’s expeditionary medicine (EXMED) system which provide a ready, rapidly deployable and combat effective medical forces to improve survivability across the full spectrum of care, regardless of environment. and provides uninterrupted care during patient movement from the point of injury (POI), implementation of life-saving interventions, and through Role 4 care without clinically compromising the patients’ condition. The Navy Medicine Operational Training Command (NMOTC) is the Navy’s leader in operational medicine and trains specialty providers for aviation, surface, submarine, expeditionary, and special operations communities.
