U.S. Marine Corps Brig. Gen. James A. Ryans II, commanding general of Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego and Western Recruiting Region, delivers the opening remarks at the National Association of Basketball Coaches annual convention in Phoenix, Ariz., on April 5, 2024. The Marines and NABC are committed to offering the opportunity to develop new relationships with basketball coaches to build trust and create a larger pool of advocates to access talented young men and women. During the opening ceremony Ryans remarked to the coaches in attendance, “more about what we do is alike than different,” regarding the development of young men and women in character, as well as physically.
