These anatomical models from the National Museum of Health and Medicine’s Historical Collections show the effects of immersion (trench) foot. The model on the left shows gangrene resulting from immersion foot [M-550.10731]. It was made at the Army Medical Museum by U.S. Army Capt. Frank Wallis in 1918. The other models [M-550.10127, M-550.10385, and M-550.10386] were made by David Villasenor at the Camp Carson General Hospital in Colorado during World War II.
