Marines evacuate to higher ground and monitor the situation after the tsunami warning, Camp Foster, April 3, 2024. This day, Marine Corps Installations Pacific in Okinawa opened gates to over 1600 local residents who live in lower elevations to evacuate through the base to reach their higher ground destinations faster through Local Implementation Agreements MCIPAC and local Okinawa municipalities signed every year.
2024年4月3日、キャンプ・フォスターにて津波警報後、高台に避難し状況を監視する海兵隊員ら。この日、沖縄の太平洋海兵隊施設は、毎年MCIPACと沖縄の地元市町村が締結している地域実施協定により、標高の低い場所に住む1600人以上の地域住民が、より早く高台に避難できるよう、基地内のゲートを開放した。
