Jiovanna Morley, contract specialist, U.S. Transportation Command, poses for a portrait April 30, 2024, at U.S. Transportation Command, Scott Air Force Base, Ill. Morley embodies the values of Fa’a Samoa, the Samoan Way, passed down by her family. Holding the title tulafale matai, Morley cherishes her matai title Sinaoali’i, which strengthens her bond to her culture and family.
Transitioning from Hawaii to Scott AFB, Morley missed the Polynesian culture but found connection through the Asian Pacific Islander Council and DEIA council at USTRANSCOM, she explained. Drawing inspiration from her mother and grandmother, Morley values perseverance and cultural preservation.
Morley's cultural background enriches her approach to problem-solving and collaboration at USTRANSCOM. She advises embracing one's cultural values to stand out and flourish in any industry. (DoD photo by Iain Page)
