A team of engineers at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Walla Walla District supervise testing of a lifting beam, a component of the new pedestal crane slated to modernize current cranes at McNary Lock and Dam, in Spokane, Washington, May 7. The crane is on track to become operational by Oct. 31, marking a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to upgrade the infrastructure at the 7,365-foot-long lock and dam. A second crane is schedule to be in placed in 2025.
