U.S. Army Soldiers assigned to the 84th Engineer Battalion begin mechanical improvement of the shipping lane utilizing underwater hydraulic tools to loosen rocks and boulders and a barge crane to remove them from the seabed during Salaknib 24 at Basco Port, Philippines, April 21 to May 15, 2024. These projects included clearing debris from the La-Lo Port, construction of a bridge, and the construction of a medical-storage warehouse. Salaknib is an annual exercise between the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the U.S. Military designed to strengthen bilateral interoperability, capabilities, trust, and cooperation built over decades of shared experiences.
