U.S. Army Maj. Gen. Todd Wasmund, U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa (SETAF-AF) commanding general, left, salutes the American flag during the pass-in-review during the 95th National Alpini Rally parade in Vicenza, Italy, May 12, 2024. The American flag was displayed in the parade as a tribute to the U.S. as a country also having a Mountain Division. After 33 years the National Alpini Rally returns to Vicenza. The Italian Alpini are mountain warfare Soldiers with a rich history in the Veneto Region. The province of Vicenza, within the Veneto region, is the most "alpine" province in Italy. This year the rally brought over 400,000 people from around the world to the 3 day event. The parade, lasting over 12 hours, served as the formal conclusion to the weekend-long celebration.
