Chantemekki Fortson embraces her son, Senior Airman Roger Fortson, for the last time at his celebration of life, May 17, 2024, at New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Stonecrest, Georgia. Senior Airman Fortson was 23 years old when he was shot and killed in an Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Department deputy-involved shooting on May 3, 2024, at his off-base apartment. He was a special missions aviator with the 73rd and 4th Special Operations Squadrons. The incident is under investigation by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
