U.S. Air Force Col. Senior Airman Fortson was 23 years old when he was shot and killed in an Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Department deputy-involved shooting on May 3, 2024, at his off-base apartment. He was a special missions aviator with the 73rd and 4th Special Operations Squadrons. The incident is under investigation by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
