On Feb. 22, 2024, three Marines visited the upper reaches of Gesashi River in Higashi Village, a 40-minute drive north of Camp Schwab, the southern part of Yanbaru National Park, and help the Higashi Village to remove invasive alien plants, Mikania Micrantha, to protect the national treasure. Mikania Micrantha has two heart shaped leaves that grow in pairs from the stem with jagged edges.
2024年2月22日、3人の海兵隊員が、やんばる国立公園の南部に位置するキャンプ・シュワブから車で40分ほど北上した東村の慶佐次川上流付近を訪れ、東村の国宝を守るために特定外来生物ツルヒヨドリの除去作業を手伝った。ハート形の葉が2枚、茎から対になって生え、縁はギザギザしているツルヒヨドリ。
