A student training to become survival, evasion, resistance, and escape (SERE) specialist, assigned to the 66th Training Squadron at Fairchild AFB, tests the functionality of his improvised sunshades in a desert environment. SERE specialists need to be able to protect themselves in various environments so they are able to teach others how to do the same, ensuring at-risk personnel have the skills to ensure they can return with honor if an incident ever leaves them stranded.
