World War II-era vehicles drive through Sainte-Mère-Église to commemorate war efforts as part of D-Day 80 festivities June 2, 2024. Service members, civilians, veterans, and dignitaries have gathered throughout the region to celebrate the events of June 6, 1944, when Allied efforts pushed through German defenses to begin the liberation of Europe. Commemorative events such as these serve to honor the sacrifices U.S. service members made 80 years ago in securing peace and security, and inspiring future generations to value a collective vision of global peace.
