Benjamin Oakes, commanding officer of the San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock USS New York (LPD 21), displays the ship’s Wall of Names to Vice Adm. Thomas Ishee, commander, U.S. 6th Fleet and Naval Striking and Support Forces NATO (STRIKFORNATO), during exercise Baltic Operations 2024 (BALTOPS24), June 6. The Wall of Names is a memorial plaque listing the names of people who lost their lives on 9/11. BALTOPS24 is the premier maritime-focused exercise in the Baltic Region. The exercise, led by U.S. Naval Forces Europe-Africa and executed by STRIKFORNATO, provides a unique training opportunity to strengthen combined response capabilities critical to preserving freedom of navigation and security in the Baltic Sea.
