U.S. Army Pvt. Ismael Santillan, a combat medic assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters ‘Hold ‘Em’ Company, 2nd Cavalry Battalion, 12th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, allows a local grade school student to try on their equipment during a combat life-saving demonstration at Primary School Number 1 in Elk, Poland, June 7, 2024. Allowing local civilians to interact with the gear soldiers use daily builds trust and understanding between the soldiers and the civilians, building interconnectivity and lines of communication. The 1st Cavalry Division recognizes the importance of connecting with local communities throughout Europe. Through community engagements, our Leaders and Soldiers continue to strengthen the bonds between local communities and our U.S. forces. (U.S. Army photo by Spc. Kali Ecton)
