U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Erik Bieberdorf, a Combat Medic with the 996 Medical Company Area Support (MCAS), receives guidance from training officers as he performs treatments on a prosthetic Military Working Dog for Global Medic, June 8, 2024, at Fort Hunter Liggett, CA.
During the exercise, Soldiers of the 996 MCAS treated a combination of “dummy” or doll patients, live patients with prosthetic injuries to simulate specific emergency situations, and prosthetic Military Working Dogs in order to be evaluated and graded on their performance. Global Medic is a massive multi-national, multi-service, joint training exercise where the 996 MCAS was evaluated on providing medical care, receiving 25-30 patients that they have to assess and then transfer to a hospital for further care.
