A NORAD CF-18 from the Canadian NORAD Region receives fuel from a 101st Air Refueling Wing KC-135 Stratotanker of the Maine Air National Guard during air-defense Operation NOBLE DEFENDER (OND), June 18, 2024. As a part of OND, NORAD aircraft from both the Canadian and Continental U.S. regions conducted intercept operations with B-52 bomber aircraft from U.S. Strategic Command as the bombers entered the Air Defense Identification Zone of the east and west coast and southern approach of North America. NORAD units executed maneuvers designed to defend the eastern approach of North America from simulated cruise missile threats in this particular operation. CF-18 aircraft from the Canadian NORAD Region; and F-15C and KC-135 aircraft from the Continental U.S. NORAD Region participated in the operation.
