230613-N-NO819-1004 IWAKUNI, Japan (June 13, 2024) Steelworker 3rd Class Xavier Syboune, a Seabee assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 5 (right), receives instruction from Benjamin Rhiner of Naval Facilities Engineering and Expeditionary Warfare Center (left) on replacing a water filter tube onboard Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan June 13. NMCB-5 is forward deployed supporting Seabee missions throughout the Indo-Pacific region and United States territories executing expeditionary construction. As the stand-in, crisis response, naval engineering force, NMCB-5 maintains a ready posture to deliver in-theater expeditionary logistics via expeditionary shore infrastructure, forward damage repair, and mobile construction to strengthen partnerships, deter aggression, and enable expeditionary logistics and power projection.
