The team was put together after a Coast Guard MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crashed during a search and rescue operation in Alaska, resulting in the injury of the four air crew members. During a 19-day period, the team supported the many logistical, medical, and spiritual needs of four injured air crew, families, and friends of the of the injured, and air crews from Air Stations Sitka and Kodiak who supported their transport to and from the region.
