Cmdr. Sawyer Mann receives the Coast Guard Commendation Medal from Capt. Vincent Jansen, commanding officer Coast Guard Air Station Sitka, during a recognition ceremony for his service leading the Air Station Sitka MH-60 Mishap Crew Support Team at Coast Guard Base Seattle, Washington, Thursday June 20, 2024. The team was put together after a Coast Guard MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crashed during a search and rescue operation in Alaska, resulting in the injury of the four air crew members. During a 19-day period, the team supported the many logistical, medical, and spiritual needs of four injured air crew, families, and friends of the of the injured, and air crews from Air Stations Sitka and Kodiak who supported their transport to and from the region.
