Excavation work began June 24 at Naval War College Museum to recover a century-old time capsule. Beneath Founders' Rock, at the front of the museum, is a time capsule buried 100 years ago as part of the celebration of the 285th anniversary of the establishment of Newport, RI, which took place in 1924. The staff of the museum is planning to share images of the recovered capsule and its content in the near future and create a full display of them in time for the installation's annual Salute to Summer event in late August.
