The Department of Pastoral Care at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (Walter Reed) sponsored a Prayer Breakfast Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at the USO located on grounds of NSA Bethesda. This was a restart of an annual event that was suspended during the COVID pandemic, which historically provided an opportunity for people of all faiths to come together in a ecumenical environment and fellowship.
This community multi-denominational event demonstrated the importance of spiritual practice in Walter Reed’s approach to caregiving through a special on prayer. In addition to a catered breakfast, there was musical selections provided by the USU Dermatones Chorus, a keynote speech by Navy chaplain Capt. Chris Hester and ecumenical prayers for the nation, armed forces, Walter Reed, and DHA, by the Walter Reed Pastoral Care clergy.
