At the third annual Capability Days event, May 22, 2024, Dr. Starlyn Okada-Rising, research biologist, Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR), demonstrates a type of commercially available wound hydrogel that is being evaluated at WRAIR to see if the product can treat traumatic brain injuries in the austere, prolonged field care environment. Capability Days, held by the U.S. Army Medical Research and Development Command (MRDC), is a two-day event designed to foster networking, discussions, and demonstrations of military medicine and medical devices. It attracted over 200 people from across the Department of Defense, Congress, and industry, and they had the opportunity to engage with presentations, panel sessions, and booths showcasing the medical research being conducted at MRDC’s subordinate commands.
