The District of Columbia National Guard Counterdrug Program address members of Congress on critical drug reduction efforts and strategies during an Open House at Cannon House Office Building, Washington, D.C., July 23, 2024. The National Guard Association of the United States (NGAUS), hosted the event, and was attended by U.S. Rep. Mike Ezell (MS-District 4); Maj Gen. Gary Keefe, the Adjutant General (TAG), Massachusetts National Guard and co-chair of the General Officer Advisory Council, and Maj. Gen. John C. Andonie, Commanding General (Interim), D.C. National Guard. Counterdrug Task Forces from multiple states manned stations highlighting five mission sets—criminal analysts, drug demand reduction outreach, ground reconnaissance, aviation reconnaissance, and counterdrug schools—providing attendees with valuable insights into the multi-layered approach between the military, law enforcement, and the community to combat drugs and illicit drug activities.
