Counterdrug service members inform members of congress about critical efforts and strategies of the National Guard Counterdrug Program during the Open House at The Cannon House Office Building, Washington DC, July 23, 2024. The Open House was hosted by the National Guard Association of the United States and included attendance by U.S. Mississippi Representative Mike Ezell, Maj Gen. Gary Keefe, the 43rd Adjutant General of the Massachusetts National Guard and Co-Chair of the General Officer Advisory Council, and Maj. Gen. John C. Andonie, commanding general, D.C. National Guard. Stations highlighting the five mission sets—criminal analysts, drug demand reduction outreach, ground reconnaissance, aviation reconnaissance, and counterdrug schools—allowed attendees to engage with Counterdrug service members from several states, gaining valuable insights into the collaborative efforts with law enforcement and community organizations to combat illegal drugs.
