A dry ice trap placed by 20th Operational Medical Readiness Squadron public health technicians captures potentially disease-carrying insects at Shaw Air Force Base, S.C., June 28, 2024. The dry ice trap has been effective in capturing insects that carry spotted fever rickettsiosis. Once a disease is discovered among the caught insects, public health personnel work with local community experts to convey the information while keeping open contact with Sumter and Shaw members, as directed by their major command.
