A flag-draped casket carrying U.S. Army Pfc. Mose E. Vance arrives at the Charlotte International Airport, in Charlotte, North Carolina, during a dignified transfer on July 31, 2024. Vance was killed in action in France in January 1945 during World War II. The Vance family worked with the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency to identify Vance’s remains after being interred, unidentified, in France, for nearly 80 years.
