Emily Smith, going into her senior year at Virginia Commonwealth University, explained she was an Army medic for more than four years before deciding to go to nursing school. Smith, along with other Army ROTC cadets/nursing students, is at Walter Reed this summer for the Nurse Summer Training Program learning what their roles as Army nurses will be on a day-to-day basis after graduating from nursing school.
