Spc. Nathaniel Hoffman (left), assigned to the 385th Chemical Battalion, monitored the vitals of Sgt. Patrick Sweeney (right), assigned to 300th Chemical Company, 76 Operational Response Command, to make sure he was mission-ready before wearing a Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) suit during the Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) exercise scenario at Morgantown Town Readiness Center, W. Va., on August 8, 2024.

The HAZMAT suit is key to the safety of Soldiers operating in environments contaminated with hazardous substances. It provides both respiratory and skin protection.
