Mere months after her second ACL surgery on her left knee, Kristen Maxwell, a University of Delaware Division 1 lacrosse player, runs the 9/11 Memorial 5k in Newark, Delaware, Sept. 11, 2018. Maxwell, now a platoon leader assigned to the 71st Chemical Company, 303rd Ordnance Battalion (EOD), 8th Military Police Brigade, 8th Theater Sustainment Command in Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, has overcome these injuries, becoming an ardent fitness enthusiast and long-distance runner. She is set to represent the U.S. Army Hawaii team at the upcoming Army 10-Miler in Washington, D.C., this October.
