USS Savannah (LCS 28) arrives at Naval Surface Warfare Center, Port Hueneme Division in California for a ship groom known as a Combat Systems Assessment Team event on Feb. 9. USS Savannah is an Independence-variant littoral combat ship (LCS) that is homeported in San Diego. One of the more recent additions to the Navy’s LCS fleet, the ship was commissioned in 2022. USS Savannah is a fast, optimally manned, mission-tailored surface combatant that operates in near-shore and open-ocean environments, winning against 21st-century coastal threats.
