This exhibit case features devices developed by military medicine as part of the “Military Medical Innovations: The Future Is Here” exhibit. On the top shelf (left to right) is the EYE SYNC, a device being evaluated to triage mild traumatic brain injury and fatigue within military combat zones and a prototype ‘biospleen’ device developed to extract bacteria, fungi, and endotoxins from an infected individual’s blood. On the lower level is a wound moulage, developed at the Army Medical Museum as a training aid during World War 2, and a papier-mâché enlarged model of a hand used to train medical students at the Army Medical School at the turn of the 20th century. The exhibit was on display between July and September 2024 at the National Museum of Health and Medicine in Silver Spring, Maryland.
