NORFOLK, Va. (Sept. 20, 2024) From right, Wasp class amphibious assault ship USS Bataan (LHD 5) Commanding Officer Capt. Trace Head, Senior Chief Logistics Specialists Ignacio Pahati, and Aviation Boatswain’s Mate (Handling) Francisco Daniel Garcia participate in the ceremonial cake cutting during the ship’s 27th birthday celebration, held on the barge mess decks, Sept. 20. During the ceremony, the ship’s heritage committee read a brief history of the ship, and the crew sang happy birthday before being treated to cake and ice cream.
