240808-N-EV253-1028 SAN DIEGO (Sept. 21, 2024) - U.S. Naval Aircrewman (Helicopter) 1st Class Chris Allen, from Cameron Park, California, and assigned to the "Merlins" of Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 3, demonstrates an MH-60S Seahawk helicopter's hoisting capabilities during the 10th annual Girls in Aviation Day (GIAD) 2024 at Gillespie Air Center in El Cajon, California, Sept. 21. HSC-3 participated in the community relations event alongside the "Seahawks" of Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron (HSM) 41, and the "SunHawks" of Fleet Logistics Multi-Mission Squadron (VRM) 50. GIAD 2024 was a Women in Aviation International Event, which showcased women from across Naval Air Station North Island and their aircraft; the women represented various career fields, and attendees were able to interact with a static hands-on display of the aircraft. HSC-3 is the Navy's west coast MH-60S fleet replacement squadron, responsible for training pilots and aircrewmen by providing the most capable warfighters to the fleet.
