Staff Sgt. Enrique Gonzalez, Jr., an Infrastructure Technician in the 152nd Communications Squadron, adjusts some equipment for the Joint Incident Site Communications Capability (JISCC) during the continuity of operations (COOP) exercise at the Nevada Air National Guard Base in Reno, Nev. on Sept. 25, 2024. The exercise was designed to evaluate the base’s ability to operate in a degraded communications environment after a natural disaster, in this case, an earthquake. The JISCC is a mobile communications system designed to outfit disaster first responders and other local, state, and federal agencies and can be used during times of emergency like what the exercise was demonstrating.
