Gerry Armstrong finds debris during a foreign object and debris (FOD) walkdown on the flight deck aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71) as the ship departs Apra Harbor, Guam Sept. 26, 2024. Theodore Roosevelt, flagship of Carrier Strike Group 9, is currently conducting routine operations in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations. U.S. 7th Fleet is the U.S. Navy’s largest forward-deployed numbered fleet, and routinely interacts and operates with allies and partners in preserving a free and open Indo-Pacific region.
