U.S. Army Reserve Cpt. Neha Sharma, an intelligence officer, shares her breast-cancer survivor story with Kaiserslautern Military Community members Oct. 2, 2024, at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, Landstuhl, Germany. Sharma’s remarks were part of LRMC’s and 86th Medical Group’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month kick-off event to raise awareness of the disease.

Sharma said she was a “young and fit Soldier” when she was diagnosed with breast cancer at 31-years-old while on Active-Duty Operational Support orders in Wiesbaden, Germany. She shared her journey from finding a lump to diagnosis and treatment at LRMC, as well as detailed the challenges she faced along the way. Members of the audience laughed with her and were visibly moved as she shared her survivor story about resilience and mental toughness. (U.S. Army Reserve photo by Staff Sgt. Angela O’Hearn)
