Two crates, each containing four UH-72A Lakota helicopter main rotor blades, are staged for transport next to an Alaska Army National Guard Lakota on the flightline of Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, Oct. 8, 2024. AKARNG Soldiers assigned to Detachment 2, Charlie Company, 3-140th Security and Support Battalion, prepped two UH-72A helicopters for transport via an Alaska Air National Guard C-17 Globemaster III to the Southwest border in support of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection mission. The detachment of approximately 20 Alaska Guardsmen from the 207th Aviation Troop Command will deploy for about 12 months to augment the security mission.
