Sgt. Markus S. Briggs, a station Provost Marshal's Office Marine, performs the 50 meter gear carry of the intermediate portion of the Marine Corps swim qualification at the IronWorks Gym swimming pool here Jan. 31. Briggs was one of approximately 25 participants who performed in the intermediate portion from the 76 who took part in the basic portion the day before. The intermediate portion consisted of a 50-meter swim with gear, a jump from the tower followed by a 250-meter swim, tread water for 10 minutes and concluded with the participants shedding gear in the deep end of the pool and retrieving it.
