YOKOSUKA, Japan (October 11, 2024) - Vice Admiral Fred W. Karcher, Commander, U.S. 7th Fleet, joins Personnel Specialist Seaman Apprentice Jaimme Quick Jr. of Transaction Service Center Yokosuka and Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force Vice Admiral Tomohiko Madano, Commander, Yokosuka District, at the ceremonial cake cutting during the Yokosuka Navy Birthday Ball October 11, 2024 in Commander, Fleet Activities Yokosuka's Club Alliance. According to the Naval History and Heritage Command, the event's oldest and youngest Sailor traditionally cut the first slice of cake to represent passing knowledge and experience from one generation to the next, making the cake an integral part of the Navy Birthday Ball.
