ANNAPOLIS, Md. (Oct. 7, 2024) – Members of the Brigade of Midshipmen present retired Capt. David Marquet, U.S. Navy, with a gift following the Forrestal Lecture at Alumni Hall, U.S. Naval Academy. Marquet, author of Turn the Ship Around!, discussed leadership and empowerment, drawing on his experiences as a former submarine commander. The Forrestal Lecture Series, established in 1970, honors James V. Forrestal, the first Secretary of Defense. As the undergraduate institution for the U.S. Navy, the Naval Academy prepares midshipmen to become professional officers of competence, character, and compassion in the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps.
