U.S. Marine Lance Cpl. Shane Rowland, an assault section squad leader, yells “Rockets!” in preparation for his shoulder mounted multipurpose assault weapon gunner’s rocket shot to disable a notional enemy bunker Feb. 15 during a company-level frontal assault part of field training exercises with Royal Thai Marines in Ban Chan Krem, Kingdom of Thailand. This training exercise and many like it have highlighted CG 13, which is an annual Thai-U.S. co-sponsored exercise that focuses on interoperability of forces and readiness, bolstering national partnerships and security in the Asia-Pacific region. Rowland is with Company A, 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment.
