Service members and staff from the Navy and Marine Corps Force Health Protection Command (NMCFHPC) and Navy Environmental Preventive Medicine Unit Two (NEPMU-2) participated in the annual Norfolk Fleet Fest Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) event, Oct. 18, 2024, Norfolk, Virginia. During the event students conducted the “Drops on a Penny” station. The objective of this station is to drop as many water droplets on a coin as you can without it spilling over the edge of the coin. The more drops you add to the coin, the stronger the force of gravity grows among the water molecules at the surface, which causes the water to spill over the edge of the coin.
